Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music Therapy interventions are designed to reach a variety of goals such as :
- Improve Communication and Socialization skills
- Enhance Memory and Cognition
- Promote Physical Rehabilitation/Motor skills
- Manage/Reduce Stress
- Alleviate Pain
- Express Feelings
- Improve Self-Esteem
Music interventions may include but are not limited to singing, instrument playing, movement/dance, relaxation/meditation, improvisation, and song writing. Music therapy can be used individually or in groups.
